This system is designed for inter-room intercom or voice exchange taking advantage of ubiquitous networking data cabling and infrastructure, particularly in commercial and institutional environments such as schools, clinics, warehouses, etc. May be used either as a telephone intercom system or a full PBX system with CO (FXO) line handling. By complementing it with the line modules, it provides the full traditional PBX functions, with superb voice mail management and hosted multi-line fax management service. All at a fraction of the cost. It will be particularly attractive to small business seeking to cut costs with an integrated communication system premise-wide. This system is a perfect fit as well in upscale residences.

This IP Telephone system starts out with a small smart box that basically provides inter-room intercom functions. Requiring only a network connection to an RJ45 port down on the wall, the miniature box may be laid down on the floor or readily fixed on the wall.

When the PBX functions (traditional phone system functions) and Fax Management Service are to be implemented, programming and maintenance tasks may become more extensive and more of a routine, in which case they are best carried out on a dedicated computer screen in a standard Graphical User Interface (GUI), instead of the traditional proprietary non-intuitive multi-button phones associated with the older systems. In that event, the Q-IPTexTM  box may be handily subjected to the Vesa holes at the back of any computer monitor and doubles up as a computer connecting to the monitor via a DVI output.

Keep in mind that the programming functions are always directly accessible from any other computer on the network via a web browser.  For voice exchange, we provide a set of telephone stations each with a feature set to suit every particular environment where they are expected to be used.

The size of this system as far as the number of extensions is only limited by your network hub. Hubs can be mounted in tandem to expand in ethernet ports as desired. A reasonable amount of extension lays around 16. The standard line/extension ratio for phone systems which is 3 lines/6 extensions, 4 lines/12 extensions, 8 lines/24 extensions, etc., should be observed.

Basically wherever you have a network jack you may have an extension. If you already have another device plugged at that jack, it will share the connection either directly via built-in IP Bridge in the phone or via an Ethernet splitter. This is essentially a non-blocking system in regards to concurrent communications for capacity of 16 to 24 extensions. Performance will very much depend on your network hubs for inter-room communications. As far as external phone lines, keep in mind that traditional CO lines from the local Telco are not subject to jitter and lag that might occur with SIP lines (internet lines), without diminishing their merits in regards to cost and flexibility.

When choosing your phones, the style or look and feel is only one parameter of suitability. Other important parameters are: the number of lines that you expect each phone to handle for which they should have dedicated line buttons (particularly for executive positions), extra programmable buttons for intercom or inter-room communication, conference, etc. A receptionist might even need a phone with not only line keys but a side monitoring box (DSS Console) with lots of monitoring light indicators for call control throughout the organization. An executive phone might need a rack of keys for speed dialing. A marginal phone for a lobby need not have any special function button, or just very few. An Ample Suite of Slots and Ports
An extended suite of built-in Ports and Slots readily enables the Q-26IP and Q-26/IPC Telephone Integration systems to provision video security processing, home automation, music distribution and wholehouse broadcast intercom. Specifically, the Q-26/IP model offers built-in ports for broadcast intercom and music distribution from one external audio source, while the Q-26/IPC model offers all the ports needed for broadcast intercom and wholehouse music distribution from two audio sources. The Q-26/IPC model further offers the built-in X10P slot for home automation controls and the VIP slot for video security processing, along with its associated video in and video out ports (a total of 7). Note that both systems naturally carry the DPX multi-doorphone interface slots and the duplexer slot.

Music Distribution
All wholehouse audio distribution is done on CAT5 cabling with these Residential Telephone Integration Systems. One output for wholehouse music and wholehouse voice page and one other voice-only output for voice page to a particular zone like a maid section within the residence, a back yard outfit or else. When address is intended for the whole house it will also come off the voice-only speakers in that zone. You may have as many speakers as you wish on both outputs, speakers may be in-wall speakers or universal multimedia speakers. If you wish to use a different wholehouse music distribution system, the audio ports are built for seamless interconnect so you can use your telephones to address the whole house thru that other system. The ports provide volume control and mute control for interconnect purposes. Music from the first source also serves as music-on-hold when a phone call is put on hold, unless you want to use a totally separate source for music-on-hold.
