Music players may be kept
right next to the Controller and plugged directly into its audio
inputs. However the system also allows any remotely located music
source to be brought into the Controller via one pair (mono) or two
pairs (stereo) of wires out of the premise phone wiring or with a
dedicated cable instead. Both audio sourcing equipments may so be
located anywhere in the home: media room, bedroom, utility room,
computer desk, etc.
Therefore the location to
place the music player for wholehouse music conveniently remains at the owner's
discretion. For instance the Telephone-CD-Radio appliance may be
placed in the master bedroom (or elsewhere) inside the home quarters
while the Radio-Cassette-CD player may placed near the Controller in
the utility room (or elsewhere). From any home phone set the user is
able turn on the wholehouse music, switch the music from one
player to the other, or stop the wholehouse music altogether. Obviously
at the equipments (or from their remotes) he or she may directly
switch the sources contained within the player itself.
In addition to wholehouse
music, the music distribution system offers the outstanding capability for every
household member, in any number, to play in their own bedroom or
other private areas the music of their choice at background level or
entertainment level instead of the wholehouse music. Speakers with plug-in local ports, in-wall or
desktop, will play music from any iPod, MP3 player or other
conventional player with an audio output under volume control.
Volume is adjusted with the player. The music system is capable
enough to momentarily disconnect the local source when a wholehouse
voice page or a selective voice page is in effect. There lies the
great benefit of integrating local players in private areas with the
overall system. Somebody playing independent music at entertainment
level in his/her private quarter may virtually be out of reach for
communication purposes! Mini players like iPod and MP3's may not
directly be used as wholehouse music sources but only
as local sources as is.
