The music distribution system is at the heart of the telephone intercom system with the Ennovah Controllers. Two forms of open voice communication from the home handsets are provided. There is the wholehouse open voice paging and there is the selective voice paging.

Wholehouse voice paging addresses the entirety of the speakers installed over the premise. Selective voice paging addresses a dedicated group of speakers which is viewed as a sub-zone. That sub-zone may include one or several different locations which might be i.e. a maid section, a back yard dependency, an infant's bedroom, etc. The speakers that can be employed for selective voice paging are Auto-Answer Speaker Sets and universal multimedia speakers. These speakers do not play music. They only outcast voice.

When a wholehouse voice page is in effect it goes not only thru the music speakers but also thru the selective voice page speakers for true wholehouse addressing. When the sub-zone is addressed only the dedicated voice speakers will outcast the message, the music speakers remaining undisturbed. Semi-personal two-way communication is feasible with Auto-Answer Speaker sets.

Normally when a wholehouse voice page is underway, the system will interrupt the music being played at every music speaker for the message to be properly outcast. The music automatically returns upon handset hangup by the user. This occurs whether the music at a particular speaker is switched to music from one of the wholehouse sources or personal music from a local player (iPod, MP3, etc.). When a selective voice page is in effect, the system will also momentarily interrupt all personal music sources. This is necessary for rooms that may have both a selective voice speaker (or room monitor) and a music speaker with local sourcing, in-wall or desktop. Auto-Answer Speaker sets and room monitors are extremely sensitive and hold a very broad sound capture range to allow communication from a distant location in the room and for room monitoring purposes as well. Local music which may hamper communication must be stopped when a communication call or a surveillance connection is underway.
