In
new
home
or
renovation
projects,
we
recommend
Shielded
CAT5
cabling (STP)
in
order
to
provide
enhanced
noise
immunity
to
this
critical
system. This is
particularly
required when
the wholehouse
audio/music
service
is
to
be
at
play.
In
retrofitting
projects
with
existing
standard
(Unshielded or UTP)
CAT5
wiring,
these
systems
will
run
just
fine however. Keep in mind though that It
is
always
better
to
use
shielded
wiring
versus
unshielded
in
the
overly
electrically
noisy
and
crowded
home
environments
today.
Whenever
given
a
choice,
use
shielded
cabling.
These
Controllers
can
be
used
with
single-jack
outlets,
dual
jack
outlets
or
multi-port
jacks,
depending
on
the
nature
and
number
of
services
desired
by
the
homeowner.
All
exterior
doorphones
wire
to
the
Controller
with
one
twisted
pair
for
each
(CAT5)
or
with
stranded
wire
(24
AWG).
Doorchime
boxes
wire
to
the
Controller
with
(CAT5)
twisted
pair
or
with
standard
stranded
wire
(24
AWG).
In
retrofit
applications,
existing
wiring
and
transformer
circuit
for
the
Doorchime
can
be
kept
unaltered
by
splicing
the
doorbell
button
wires
to
a
new
wirerun or a twisted pair
toward
the
Controller.
RG6
or
RG56
cabling
is
required
to
carry
the
video
signal
from
video
doorphone
stations
whenever
the
wirerun
must
exceed
50
ft.
CAT5
wiring
may
be
used
for
such
purposes
as
long
as
a
balun
is
used
at
each
end
of
the
twisted
pair.
You
will
be
required
to
use
a
small
video
amplifier,
available
in
most
hardware
stores,
whenever
the
video
wire
run
exceeds
1000
ft.
Also
required
one
twisted
pair
(or
24
AWG
stranded
wire)
from
the
video
doorphone
station
to
the
power
port
(12VDC)
of
the
Controller
for
power
feed
of
the
camera.
Therefore
a
total
of
3
wire
pairs
are
required
for
video
doorphones.
All
alarm
detectors
wire
to
the
Controller
with
2
twisted
pairs:
12VDC
power
and
sensor
signal.
Power
feed
can
be
run
in
daisy-chain
wherever
practical.
All
doorstrikes
and
deadbolts
wire
to
the
Controller
with
one
wire
pair
to
be
CAT5
or
24
AWG.
Access
Keypads
connect
to
the
Controller
with
2
twisted
pairs:
18VAC
or
24VDC
power
feed
and
contact
closure
output.
When
an
Entry
Access
Panel
is
used
for
a
duplex
application,
one
CAT5
twisted
pair
will
connect
the
Panel
to
each
apartment/home,
for
a
total
of
2
pairs.
Power
feed
for
the
Panel
can
be
drawn
from
the
Controller
(18VAC)
or
from
a
separate
adaptor
shipping
with
the
Panel,
all
via
24
AWG
wireruns.
The
Doorstrike
wires
directly
into
the
Panel
with
2
wires
only.
Finally,
these
telephone
integration
Controllers
feature
a
built-in
auto-test
routine
upon
power
up
which
ensure
that
proper
conditions
are
met
on
the
phone
wirelines.
The
routine
also
casts
indications
of
possible
problem
for
eventual
correction
by
installer.
Many
of
these
Controllers
also
ship
with
a
mini
Spare
Wire
Test
kit
that
is
very
handy
in
retrofit
applications
due
to
use
the
plug&play
install
mode.
As
if
all
of this
was
not
enough,
these
Controllers
feature
a
cabinet
with
cable
management
fixtures
so
the
installer
may
achieve
a
keen
professional
installation.
As you know, if your home
wiring is run daisy-chain (point-to-point), you
may
not
install a key system, PBX or any
star-wiring-based telephone
system.
The
Ennovah
integration
systems
install
on
both
daisy-chain
wiring
and
home-run
wiring
and
seamlessly
interwork
with
any
wireless
phone
system.
Installs
in
minutes!
Any
handy
homeowner
will
be
able
to
easily
install
any
one
of
the
Ennovah
systems
that
require
some
tooling.
However
if
your
project
is
very
involved
or
if you
simply
prefer
to
hire
a
contractor,
here
is
who
you
will
want
to
hire
to
install
your
system.
