These telephone intercom systems
are
built
to
allow
maximum
interactions
between
household
members
by
maintaining
busy
extensions
unlocked.
Any
user
can
pick
up
a
handset
at
any
time
and
barge
directly
into
an
ongoing
communication,
as
it
would
otherwise
occur
without
a
system
in
operation.
However,
after
the
barge-in,
a
private
conversation
can
be
held
between
the
two
household
users
at
the
exclusion
of
the
remote
line
caller.
Any
one
of
the
two
household
users
may
then
put
the
remote
caller
on
hold
by
hitting
the
[#]
key
on
the
handset
keypad
so
a
private
conversation
can
immediately
initiate.
A
senior
member
of
the
household
may
instead
choose
to
imperatively
barge
in
and
put
the
ongoing
call
on
hold
because
an
urgent
communication
with
the
busy
user
cannot
wait.
A
voice
page
or
a
ring
page
can
be
initiated
in
these
same
conditions
for
a
third
member
of
the
household
upon
request
of
the
barging
user
or
directly
by
him
or
her,
whenever
the
system
at
play
has
only
one
communication
channel.
A
junior
member
of
the
household
would
normally
ask
first
for
a
private
communication,
upon
which
the
busy
user
would
put
the
remote
external
caller
on
hold
in
order
to
engage
the
intercom
conversation.
A
number
of
intercom
interactions
may
so
occur
over
the
external
call
kept
on
hold.
The
call
on
hold
will
never
be
lost
since
after
60
seconds
of
inaction
(all
phones
on
hook)
the
system
will
release
a
warning
ring
tone
as
a
reminder
of
that
awating
call
to
the
users.
The
remote
caller
will
be
left
with
entertaining
music
to
keep
him
or
her
holding,
as
it
happens
with
any
line
call
put
on
hold.
All
overlay
intercom
calls
done
thru
barging
do
not
tie
users
to
any
specific
phones.
The
call
initiator
can
move
around
the
household
as
he/she
wishes
and
pick
the
call
from
any
other
handset.
User
mobility
and
communication
flexibility
offered
by
these
telephone
integration
systems
are
truly
unequaled.
