For instance, when you want to set an elderly or mentally handicapped relative under leave surveillance, responses are best directly handled by the homeowner instead of a remote surveillance center. 

Same holds true if your intent is to monitor temperature rise in a residential or commercial area while you are on premise or even out of premise. If you have a long driveway on your property and want to be alerted whenever a vehicle or an intruder crosses the entrance toward your home, or whenever the postman has delivered your mail, these are instances where you may want to personally react to alerts. There are many other instances where the homeowner may want to remain the owner of alerts and responses. The alarm function incorporated in these Controllers provides the instrument for such cases. 

On another hand, these Controllers empower your doorchime box to play an active role in the generation of alerts, converting them from trivial boxes announcing perhaps casual guests to useful players within the security setup of your property. Your doorchime box will release a chime note whenever an alarm condition has been detected. The note, which is a distinctive note released in a specific number of strokes, will also indicate the exact entrance or area that has triggered the alarm condition. In addition, the more advanced Controllers will also allow the homeowner to set the doorchime box to ring on incoming phone calls, for instance at party time when entertainment-level sound and loud noise around the home turn ring tones from phone calls imperceptible.

Each doorphone port (total of 4) offered by these Controllers doubles as an alarm port. They are in fact hybrid ports that work both as vehicles for doorphone communication and alarm security detection: on a particular port either a doorphone station or an alarm detector may be installed, or the both. In some Controllers these ports are programmable to generate a phone call to a remote phone number or a cell phone subsequently to a doorbell call or a detected alarm condition.

These Controllers also feature a separate dedicated alarm detection port with alerts released as a relentless ring tone by the home handsets. They also may be programmed to generate a phone call to a remote phone number or a cell phone when an alarm condition occurs. This phone number may or may not be the same as the programmed number for detection by the hybrid doorphone/alarm ports.

Last but not least, these Controllers optionally provide video surveillance with concealed video capture cameras inside of the very doorphone stations. These cameras may output either to your home TV sets, your computer monitor via internal video capture card or to dedicated monitors that may be conspicuous TV sets or mini LCD screens. A video control port is furnished that may be used as you see fit to control your video display in response to doorphone calls or detected alarm conditions. These Controllers tightly integrate audio and video surveillance to provide the best kind of home security surveillance available today.
