Easy Install: Plug&Play or with Minor Tooling

MiniCom Q-16

These telephone intercom systems handle one phone line in their basic configuration. The equipment installs at the head of the line in basement, wiring closet or garage, and basically intercepts the phone wirelines. If you have dial tone from cable box or VOIP box located inside the home, just connect dial tone jack from box to MiniCom and plug MiniCom into nearby wall phone jack. Once that is done, your house phones become intercom phones that can communicate with each other in addition to receiving and making phone calls. This is the installation in the Intercept mode.

When installing the Unit in the Intercept fashion with a conventional phone line, some minor tooling is required  in order to hookup the incoming phone line and the house phone wirelines to the Unit. No new wiring at all is required. See our Telephone Distribution Modules if you need to setup (new construction) or fix (existing home) your house distribution system.

An alternate way of installing the Unit is in the Plug&Play mode whereby the box is plugged into any inside home phone jack just like a phone set. No tooling whatsoever is then required. Your house extra pair of wires on the phone cabling must be functional at your phone jacks however. This is your house second pair of wires that is required by code as a spare, or if you were to have a second phone line. Be sure to use the mini-couplers at the phone jacks when using the Plug&Play mode. A special plug-in test tool comes with the couplers when ordered in order to test the integrity of the spare wire pair before plugging in the Controller. This all applies to a conventional analog phone line provided by the local phone company.

When your dial tone is provided by an inside cable box or VOIP box, the equipment installs in the intercept mode, however no tooling whatsoever is required. A snapy 2-step plug-in operation!
