The server box plugs into your phone
line at any phone jack. Your answering machine and fax machine plug
into the server box. They are each identified with a number. Your
MiniCom box will also be installed on the line either at the
headend (demarc) of the line or in any home phone jack.
You can pick up the phone and call up
anyone of the machines at any time: the fax machine because you want
to transfer a load of documents to your computer for instance, the
answering machine either to read your voice mail from any other room
or to leave a memo to be read by someone else for instance. When you
receive a phone call that turns out to be a fax call, your can
transfer the call the fax machine. When you receive a call for a peer
who is away at the moment, you can transfer the call to the answering
machine. An inexpensive multi-mailbox machine is a nice equipment for
voice mail service to several users.
When you are away, the incoming phone
calls will be picked up by the answering machine. If you want fax
calls to go thru to your fax machine, you need to have distinctive
ring service on the line from you local phone company (couple of bucks
a month). That will even give you the convenience of a separate phone
number for your fax machine, a nice complement for your home office.
And it all runs on your one single home phone line!
The MiniCom system not only provides you with great room-to-room
intercom but also takes care of your fax and voice messaging needs
giving your home office the edge it needs.
