Distinct Ways of Communicating
Any type of phone sets may be
used at the users' convenience. Corded or cordless, No-Dial phones or
Speaker boxes. Standard Speakerphones add more capabilities to
the application by affording
hands-free calling and hands-free
reply both at the single push
of a button. Cordless phones will give users
wire-free mobility
as might be convenient. Exterior Speaker boxes as shown at left are a
great fit for parlors
and the like.
When a Speaker box is in use, the
guest will push and hold the call button to initiate a call and to
communicate. Guest releases the button at end of call. No-Dial handsets
may otherwise be used to fit a variety of needs, calling patterns and
restrictions.
A permanent intercom link may be
established between a speakerphone station at one node and a regular
handset at the other. Transmission for the speakerphone is then
optionally controlled with the [Mute] button. This is a permanent
Handset-to-Speaker
link. Permanent
Speaker-to-Speaker
links may be established as well with
two Speakerphones. Permanent Speaker-to-Speaker links allow not only for
communication but also for monitoring as might be desired.
Visual
Call Indicators
Aside from
ringing a phone station upon a call from the other station, the DuoCom
instrument optionally affords the
connection of two lamps.
This is useful in settings where a visual
indicator is desirable as a complement or an alternative. In those settings where a loud audible sound
like a
ringing tone is not allowed, the user may simply turn off the ring
switch on the phone set, allowing only the visual indicator to take
effect.
Each node has its own
associated lamp port, which are distinctly programmable for
two different flash patterns.
The lamps may be either set to flash at the same cadence as the ring
signal, or to turn steadily on for the duration of the call. The
patterns may be selected directly with 2 configuration switches
accessible on the DuoCom box.
Alternatively control for
the lamps may be generated locally at any handset station by the
Relay Switcher
extension, whenever wiring for the lamp is impractical. In that event
visual flashing of the lamp will follow the ring sequence pattern. The
lamps tied to the instrument may be configured to be directly powered by
a
built-in AC voltage supply,
which simplifies their install, or by a separate power source.
Easy Install
The phone stations are to be wired directly to the DuoCom.
In a two-set installation, the DuoCom box may be located
near one of the phone sets so it may plug directly into the instrument.
While the other set will be wired from its location into the
DuoCom instrument. For
a wire-free installation, one universal Wireless Phone Jack may be used.
The Transmitter piece ought to be plugged directly into the DuoCom box,
while the Receiver piece is to be located along with the remote station.
Wireless Phone Jacks work by establishing phone links over the
electrical power lines. If a lamp indicator is desired at the remote
station for this
wire-free setup, a Relay
Switcher extension ought to be
used.
