How
many
cabinets
do
I
need
for
a
full
63-unit
system?
At
maximum
capacity,
the
OmniCom
system
uses
a
total
of
3
cabinets.
However
only
one
single
power
outlet
is
needed
to
plug
the
system
to
the
power
line.
Cabinet
1
plugs
into
the
power
outlet,
cabinet
2
plugs
into
cabinet
1
via
power
patch
cord,
cabinet
3
plugs
into
cabinet
2
via
power
patch
cord.
This
is
a
tandem
connection
that
effectively
minimizes
the
number
of
outlets
needed
to
plug
in
the
system.
No
more
than
two
outlets
will
ever
be
necessary
for
the
whole
system:
one
for
the
processor(s)
and
one
for
the
Entry
Panel
(EAP).
Do
I
need
a
UPS
for
this
system?
While an Interruptible Power Supply (UPS) is not
necessary to run this system, we do recommend using a UPS to keep the
system up in event of power failure and to protect the system against
surges on the power line as well. In areas with frequent and/or serious
fluctuations of
the
power
line
and
known
potential
for
high
surges,
we
highly
recommend
a
surge
protector
at
a
minimum.
Can
residents
still
use
their
phones
in
case
of
a
power
outage?
In
the
event
of
a
power
outage,
and
given
no
UPS
back
up
supply,
residents
phone
lines
will
remain
completely
functional.
However
entry
intercom
and
access
services
won't
be
available
until
power
is
restored.
