The OmniCom Telephone Entry System is based on open connectivity and most importantly it is structured around modular parts. All versions of MPU Controllers are modular equipments with backplanes, power boards and interface cards. Entry access Panels are modular as well carrying separate circuits boards for audio and processing functions.

Modularity makes this entry system extremely reliable and particularly easy to maintain. Building managers will effectively find that this telephone entry system left to itself requires almost no maintenance at all. Because there is no or little programming to do when setting up the equipment, there is no or little reprogramming to do either at any time later. Phone number programming and reprogramming will only be required for tenants with Auto-Dial classes of service. Name directories when in effect are simple to update, those being directly accessible and involving no programming procedures whatsoever.

When maintenance service is required due to a failure event, maintenance may be performed on a single-unit basis with no incidence on other units. An IPC or ADC card within the MPU controller may be interchanged while the system is free running. Modularity efficiently minimizes the risk of total failure of the system. The possible failure of entry access service in one suite will not affect the operation of other units while the system is free running or during maintenance tasks. Failure of one function will not affect performance of other functions. Unavailability of audio function for instance does not preclude call initiation or cross-call alerts, for instance. This is all achieved with granular modularity of the system.

When the OmniCom telephone entry system interconnects in an application with other integrated Home Controllers, failure incidences will remain limited to one equipment or the other and maintenance tasks may be performed in a completely independent manner. When required maintenance may be performed with the easy and affordable twisted-pair kit.
